Natia Sapanadze

Lives and works in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Natia Sapanadze is a self-taught artist. She began painting in childhood but later pursued studies in Georgian Philology. She continued to paint actively alongside her studies and remains a practicing painter to this day.
Painting has been her primary medium of communication with the external world since childhood. Today, it remains the most effective way for her to explore the human inner world and engage in dialogue with the world around her.
Natia’s work often delves into profound aspects of human existence, such as death, loss, fear, and transformation. She frequently investigates the darker facets of human psychology and the process of identity exploration. In her pieces, traditionally symbolic elements like flowers, representing life, may appear within contexts of death. This juxtaposition highlights the cyclical nature of life and death, transformation, and inevitable endings. Simultaneously, Natia’s work carries an ironic undertone, often intertwined with surreal visuals. This irony, alongside the blurring of boundaries between reality and fantasy, life and death, invites the viewer to contemplate the meaning of existence and explore their own inner landscape.
