Harumi Ori

°1966, Kyoto, Japan.
Lives and works in Brooklyn, US.

Harumi Ori’s sculpture-rooted, site-specific public artworks reproduce the space and time of a single moment. An artist deeply interested in the human experience and community, her practice seeks not only to represent individuals and groups in authentic ways, but also to engage them directly in the making process.

Born in Kyoto, Ori spent her childhood in Japan, Malaysia, and the United States. Currently based in Brooklyn, her ongoing I am Here series has been supported by commissions from the New York City Department of Transportation, New York City Economic Development Corporation, Long Island City Partnership, Facebook, and the Lille3000, France among others.
