(EN) In his solo exhibition Retenir, Bao Vuong (Vietnam/France) presents works from the series The Crossing. His visual language is built from silence, layers of paint, wood, and traces of water. The exhibition commemorates his childhood escape by boat from Vietnam to France. Water acts as both a border and memory. Vuong’s work is meditative, understated, and charged with presence.
(NL) In zijn solotentoonstelling Retenir presenteert Bao Vuong (Vietnam/Frankrijk) werken uit de reeks The Crossing. Zijn beeldtaal is opgebouwd uit stilte, lagen verf, hout, en sporen van water. De tentoonstelling herdenkt zijn vlucht per boot als kind van Vietnam naar Frankrijk. Water fungeert hier als grens én herinnering. Vuongs werk is meditatief, ingetogen en geladen met aanwezigheid.
