Paulo Valeriano

1999, Brasília, Brazil
Lives and works in Brasília, Brazil.

Brasília (Brasil) based artist, Paulo Valeriano is 25 years old and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts from the University of Brasília (UnB) and a Technologist degree in Photography from Centro Universitário IESB. For the past five years, he has participated in various group exhibitions, showcasing his work in spaces such as Taller Zaragoza (SP, Brazil), in ‘Perder de vista’ by Gisela Projects, curated by Lucas Alberto; lapa, Lapa (SP, Brazil), in ‘Estrada longa’, with a critical essay by Rodrigo de Almeida Cruz; Galeria Index (DF, Brazil), in ‘Sobre/posições’, among others. In 2024, he took part in the Delirium Residency at Espaço Delirium (SP, Brazil).

Painting and landscape —specifically, natural landscapes—have held a central place in the artist’s interests since the beginning of his practice. Through images that occupy a fragile space between representation and imagination, he seeks to propose a reflection on how we relate to the surrounding environment and the role of Western art history in this relationship, addressing questions intrinsic to the study of landscapes, from perspective to phenomenological geography.
