Lives and works in Courtrai, Belgium.
Heidi Leman is fascinated by time — more specifically by what time does to people, habitats, and materials, how it leaves traces, and makes its influence visible.
At the beginning of her artistic career, the focus was more on the human body: how lived time marks, shapes, and slows the body. How body language forms a often underestimated but essential vocabulary in interaction with others.
Gradually, her focus shifted to the environment surrounding humans. Our identity is inseparably linked to our living environment and to how time is experienced there: accelerated processes or moments when time stands still, memories that arise, or dreams of the future…
The social aspect has always been present in her work. Observation and engagement brought her insights into processes and led to a deepening of her artistic practice.
