Tschiegg
°1966, Mulhouse, France.
Lives and works in Mulhouse, France.
Tschiegg is best known for her acrylic paintings in her everlasting quest for color, exploring three painterly genres; portraiture, landscape painting, and still life painting in the form of plants and vegetation. However, her portraits are not just depictions of an individualized sitter, nor are her landscapes and painted plants an extension of an art historical tradition, especially when considering a picture can start out as a landscape and end up as a portrait. Regardless of the genre, one is drawn into the strong grasp of the painting, as if stuck in a pendulum movement, in which the painter continues to paint and repaint with her brush as the viewers’ eyes continue to circulate on top of the surface, seeing and re-seeing from one focal point of color to another.
