Alberto Lamback

°1985, Paris, France.
Lives and works in Brasília, DF.

Alberto Lamback is an artist, photographer, and art technician. His research focuses on how images are absorbed in contemporary society. Through painting, he constructs his own language, blending both traditional and contemporary techniques, and seeks to reclaim the uniqueness often lost in the era of rampant image dissemination. With a degree in Fine Arts from Sorbonne University (2007) and a Bachelor's in Fine Arts from Byam Shaw University, London (2010), Alberto worked as an art technician for notable figures such as Jake and Dinos Chapman, Connor Brothers, and the White Cube gallery. At the end of 2018, he decided to return to the capital of his home country to focus on his own production. He has exhibited his work in the United Kingdom, Iceland, and held several exhibitions in Brasília. His first solo exhibition took place in the capital in July 2022.

Alberto Lamback's paintings emerge from a deeply personal and introspective space. Known for his large-scale canvases, the artist has recently turned his attention to smaller formats, discovering in them an unexpected intimacy. These compact works invite a closer, more contemplative engagement, revealing a tender and ephemeral dimension of his practice. While flowers remain a central motif in Lamback's work, they transcend their literal representation. For the artist, they symbolize fleeting moments in life—delicate, transient, and filled with quiet significance, moments that are marked by the titles he decides to give each work. These blooms and shadows, much like memories, are soft and blurred, their lightness contrasting sharply with the dense wooden blocks that form their foundation. The juxtaposition of weight and lightness—seen in the layered gesso and solid wood against the ethereal quality of the painted surfaces—speaks to the duality of these captured moments. Though ephemeral, they carry profound emotional weight, preserved and elevated through Lamback's meticulous process.
