Bis Viktoriia - Bis Vika

°1997, Elektrostal, Russia.

Vika Bis showcases oil paintings that delve into traumatic and disturbing images of feminine childhood, using post-war aesthetic influences to present haunting, desolate scenes drawn from her most profound recollections. Her work is paired with Maria Abaddon’s (b. 1988, Lima, Peru), through visceral sculptures, explores chromatic volumes and employs textile techniques tied to the feminine creative realm. Her work critically engages with gender stigma, addressing motherhood and bodily aspects, and a biting critique of misogyny, merging both irony and sharp social commentary.

Victoria Bis was born in Elektrostal on April 2, 1997. Since childhood, she studied at the city art school at the faculty of easel painting and applied art. At the same time, she took classes in architectural drawing, painting and drafting at architectural academies and schools. In 2015, she moved to Moscow, where she studied on the course "Academic Drawing". In 2017, she moved to St. Petersburg and studied at the St. Petersburg University of Design and Technology at the faculty of "Costume Design".
